February 2021 - The natural disasters that occurred in early 2021 have scarred Indonesia, a country that is still struggling to manage the COVID19 pandemic. According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) data as of 8 February 2021, the type of natural disasters that have occurred in the territory of Indonesia since the beginning of 2021 are floods (227 incidents), tornadoes (66 incidents), landslides (60 incidents), earthquakes ( 7 incidents), tidal waves or abrasion (7 incidents) as well as forest and land fires (4 incidents). The natural disasters resulted in 216 casualties, 12,056 injuries, 7 missing people, and 1,769,309 people suffering and displaced. (*source; antaranews.com)
Seeing the grief experienced by the community, the Garudafood Sehati Team and PT Sinarniaga Sejahtera (PT SNS) once again distributed more than 1,800 cartons of Garudafood products to hundreds of natural disaster victims in February 2021, such as the flood in Pati - Central Java, flood in Subang – West Java, flood in Jombang – East Java, flood in Jabeka (Jakarta, Bekasi, and Karawang) and flood in Lebak – Banten. Assistance was also provided to communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. All of the donation distribution activities implemented strict health protocols and collaborated with various external partners, such as Kampung Dongeng Indonesia, Sekolah Relawan, Sekolah Bersama, Last Wish Foundation, FoodCycle, and Daruut Tauhiid Peduli.
This is a continuation of the donation made in the previous month reaching a total of more than 2,500 cartons of Garudafood products between January - February 2021. This is the way that we care for others regardless of ethnicity, religion, race, and group.
Let's jointly pray so this disaster will soon pass and that the COVID-19 pandemic will end soon and Indonesia can recover soon.
