Garudafood Supports the Fulfillment of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Gresik

Gresik, 01 November 2023 – PT Garudafood Putra Putri Jaya Tbk (Garudafood) Gresik Unit – East Java attended the Grand Opening of Special Needs Education Transformation Services SUB UPT Resource Center Gresik South Region I, Wringinanom Sub-District on Wednesday, 01 November 2023, to ensure that children with special needs receive equivalent educational services. Through the UPT Resource Center Gresik, children who do not have access to (School for Students with Special Needs (SLB) and public schools can obtain support.

The event was attended by Hj. Aminatun Habibah as Vice District Head of Gresik, S. Hariyanto, S.Pd. M.M. as Head of the Education Office in Gresik District, Head of Bappeda in Gresik District, Head of BBPMP, Head of Wringinanom Sub-District, and Cyril Patric Mamahit as Business Unit Head of Garudafood Gresik. At the same time, Garudafood provided two wheelchairs for persons with disabilities who needed them.

"We are well aware that all members of the Gresik community have equal rights to obtain education. Therefore, the ongoing and smooth cooperation with the SUB UPT Resource Center Gresik South Region I, Wringinanom Sub-District can benefit the community, especially in fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of education," said Cyril Patric Mamahit in his speech.

From 2019 to date, Garudafood has collaborated with the UPT Resource Center in Gresik City to provide entrepreneurship training to persons with disabilities, especially in making crafts from waste plastic packaging rolls from Garudafood products into pencil cases, tissue holders, lanterns and other products, as well as helping to market the products to provide economic benefits for the trainees. Garudafood also supports other special needs educational activities in the Gresik area as part of its commitment to implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), especially in the Education & Humanity pillar.
